  • Transformations
    The opportunity was presented to students at Massey University to work on an installation for Dulux at the World Press Photography Exhibition held in Wellington from September 17 to October 10. The aim was to use the designated exhibition space, (two meters by one and half meters) to reflect the idea of ‘transformation’. The idea of transformation was expanded to how Dulux paint has the power to transform space through colour. This theme was reflected through the final solution of an evolving installation. The installation began with an image of the dulux logo, which consisted of over 1,200 4x4cm colour swatches from the Dulux Colours of New Zealand range. They followed a carefully designed grid system, that mapped out where each colour swatch went. This enabled them to replace each paint swatch every second day with a new colour swatch transforming the existing image to a new image. This intensive process was repeated thirteen times and all images were iconic to New Zealand. The supporting photography and stop motion video illustrates the intensive but rewarding process from one transformation to another over approximately three hours, every second day for three weeks.
